From a fifty-bed hospital in 1971, SDMH today has 400 beds, and has gradually emerged as one of the finest medical institutions in North India. At SDMH, all poor patients are treated free of charge, and no one is ever turned away because of his inability to pay. This has been its core philosophy since inception. It is NOT a corporate hospital making money; rather, it is a trust hospital operating on a not-for-profit basis. The trustees have always maintained that making a difference is far more important than making a buck.
