In 1997, the Avedna Ashram came into being right next to the hospital, a modern 100-bed hospice which, in treating terminally ill patients, attempts to add life to their years rather than years to their lives. Patients are housed here completely free of cost. They are provided round-the-clock nursing, food, medicare – in short, everything possible – irrespective of caste, creed or colour. An atmosphere of care, compassion and serenity prevails among patients for whom life, otherwise, would have very little to offer.
